The sunny lush campus [Brunel campus] of Brunel University, near London, was the venue of the 2002 PPIG workshop.

Despite precautions at the door, [Room 215] some delegates still succumbed to the incredible [Workshop attendees] Shrinking Grins.

The workshop started with a talk by [Maria Kutar] Maria Kutar, and the afternoon coffee break [Coffee break] was full of discussion and catching up. [Rudi Lutz and Lindsay Marshall]

Kit Logan's talk [Kit Logan] was followed by papers given by delegates from Finland [Eero Mönkkönen] and Hawaii. [Martha Crosby]

Evening dinner and discussions took place at a local Italian [Talk over dinner] restaurant. Delegates were caught on camera, [Two Scottish Geezers] including some rarely seen, [Paola Kathuria] whilst others were just caught. [Dinner @ Nona rosa]

Day two of the workshop [Workshop] was eagerly awaited [Day two] and PPIG regulars took the opportunity to catch up on some reading [Thomas Green thinks] of papers. [Alan Blackwell with paper

The first invited talk was given by [Françoise Détienne] Françoise Détienne. Simon Lynch, from Botswana, [Simon Lynch] was followed by second-time PPIGer, Enda Dunican [Enda Dunican] from Ireland.

Mark Harman gave the second invited talk, in which questions were asked [Mark Harman thinks] and [Mark Harman] answered. It was followed by talks from two PPIG regulars: Linda McIver [Linda McIver] from Australia and Jorma Sajaniemi [Jorma Sajaniemi] from Finland.

Jan Erik Moström, from Sweden, [Jan Erik Moström] returned to PPIG after a gap of a few years [Jan Erik Moström] to juggle little ones.

That evening, dinner was followed by PPIG's traditional [PPIG Band] music-playing [PPIG ceilidh whirl] and [PPIG Dance] dancing. We welcomed a regular from the PPIG discuss mailing list [Newest member] to the workshop.

Dancing was followed by much [Thomas Green and Judith Segal] talking, listening [Lindsay Marshall signs] and more [Lindsay Marshall serenades] music.

The third day began with a talk by Chris Douce, the PPIG newsletter editor, [David Hales and Chris Douce] and David Hales. It was followed by an illustrated presentation by [Lindsay Marshall impresses] Lindsay Marshall, involving naked [Judith Segal] chefs. Alternative perspectives were [Derek Jones] proposed by the audience. Delegates took the opportunity to ponder [Kit Logan] and discuss [Andrew Walenstein and Thomas Green] the morning's talks during the break.

Sally Fincher [Sally Fincher] and Chris Roast presented papers before lunch and the last invited talk [Thomas Green] was by Thomas Green, [Thomas Green] PPIG veteran. [Thomas Green talks]

Afternoon [Rebecca Smith and Christian Holmboe] break was followed by talks by Alan Blackwell [Alan Blackwell setting-up] [Alan Blackwell] and Christian Holmboe, from Norway, [Christian Holmboe] who became one [Christian Holmboe makes a mark] with technology. [Christian Holmboe immersed]

Friday, 21st June 2002, was the day of the [Match day] England vs. Brazil match. Delegates waited patiently [Alan Blackwell reading] for the workshop to resume [Frank Wales and Lindsay Marshall] with an animated talk by [Alan Blackwell's leap of faith] [Alan Blackwell's dual action] Alan Blackwell, followed by a talk from Andrew Walenstein, [Andrew Walenstein] visiting PPIG [Andrew Walentstein] from Canada.

The workshop ended with a meeting [Thomas Green questions] to discuss PPIG business. Under discussion [Rudi Lutz] was the PPIG web site, which would be taken over by Lindsay Marshall, and the [Frank Wales and Lindsay Marshall] next workshop, due to be co-located with [off-site] EASE (Empirical Assessment in Software Engineering) at Keele in 2003. See you then!
